WIKWEMIKONG—This weekend the place to be is Wikwemikong for the annual Wikwemikong Fall Fair with this year’s theme ‘Seeds n’ Soil.’ With a jam packed event schedule there will be something for the whole family to enjoy from x-games, an exhibit hall, fastball tournament, kids games, a horse pull and more.

The weekend kicks off this Friday, September 20 with the men’s and women’s fastball tournament starting at 5 pm at Wikwemikong’s Thunderbird Park. To register or for more information email gerard_baibomcowai@live.com or call 705-859-3815.

Also on Friday evening there will be x-games at the youth centre skate park, so grab your bike, skateboard or blades and show off your skills.

Get your dance on with the whole family later on Friday night, but make sure to stop by the arena first and drop off your exhibits for judging.

For those looking for a quieter evening there will be a euchre tournament as well as the fall fair classic Texas hold’em poker tournament in the arena lobby.

On Saturday morning the day will start with a pancake breakfast at the arena upstairs. The fastball tournament will continue at Thunderbird Park, so make sure you get out and cheer on your favourite team!

The parade will be departing from the Holy Cross Mission Church at 10 am sharp. There will be an open mic and live entertainment from 12 pm to 5 pm at Thunderbird Park, in addition to a man vs horse exhibition sprint, horseshoe tournament, baby farmer pageant, children games and Checker’s Fun Factory with a mechanical bull and obstacle course.

There will also be pony rides by Kicking Mule Ranch, Science North will be on hand with fun activities and there will be an opportunity to get that fall family portrait from Ireva Photography.

Get your horses ready because at 1 pm there will be a heavy horse pull, followed by a truck pull.

At the arena Saturday, the exhibit hall will be open and there will be an apple harvest and tasting.

Wrap up the busy day with a pig roast and licenced dance featuring ‘8 Second Ride’ at 9 pm.

Sunday morning the fastball tournament will continue, as will the horseshoe tournament. There will also be a bike race.

The fastball tournament championship game will be held at 8 pm.

With so much to see and do it will be a great weekend in Wikwemikong! For more information see pages and 15 in this newspaper. In case of rain, events will be moved to the arena.
