GORE BAY—With the fairly mild conditions and lack of thick ice on local area lakes, the annual Kids Fishing Derby, put on by the Gore Bay Fish and Game Club (GBFGC), has been cancelled for this year but will return in 2017. The annual derby had been scheduled to take place on March 12 on Lake Wolsey.
Ches Witty, a member of the GBFGC and main organizer of the annual event, told the Recorder last Friday, “I was at a fish and game club meeting last night and we discussed this year’s derby. Due to the unusual ice conditions on local lakes and the area we have decided we are cancelling the kids fishing derby this year. We are sorry for any inconvenience this may cause and we hope to see all the kids again next year for our derby.”
