Police investigate assault M’Chigeeng
During the early morning hours of June 14, UCCM Police responded to a call of an unconscious 23-year-old male who was allegedly involved in a fight at a residence on the M’Chigeeng First Nation. The unconscious male person was seen to by ambulance attendants and taken to the hospital. This is an ongoing investigation and police are seeking the public’s assistance.
Break and enter at Taylor’s Sawmill
On June 16 UCCM Police were called to investigate a break, enter and theft at Taylor’s Saw Mill in M’Chigeeng. Police determined that the culprit entered the business through a window and once inside stole a cheque and some grocery items. The UCCM Police scenes of crime officer gathered forensic evidence from the scene.
Property damage to vehicles
On June 16, UCCM Police were contacted by OK Tire in M’Chigeeng regarding damage to two vehicles parked on their property over the weekend of June 14 and 15. Police determined that damages were incurred to the vehicles while the culprit(s) were looking for valuables in vehicle consoles and glove boxes. UCCM Police is seeking the public’s assistance in helping identify the person or persons responsible for this crime.
Possession of stolen property
On the June 16, UCCM Police were called to M’Chigeeng First Nation to investigate a report that a man was in possession of stolen property. Police investigated the report and with the assistance of witnesses were able to determine that a backpack was previously stolen and found to be in the possession of 31-year-old man from M’Chigeeng First Nation. He was subsequently arrested for possession of stolen property and outstanding arrest warrants.
The 31-year-old male of M’Chigeeng First Nation is charged with possession of stolen property and is scheduled to appear in Gore Bay Court on June 23, but remains in custody as of Friday.
Breach of undertaking
During the evening hours of June 16, UCCM Police were dispatched to a call on the Aundeck Omni Kaning First Nation in relation to a report that a person was breaching a court order. Upon arrival police determined that a person in the residence was previously released on an undertaking before an Officer in Charge, in regards to a domestic assault investigation.
A 27-year-old woman from Aundeck Omni Kaning First Nation was found breaching conditions not to communicate with the person named in that undertaking. She was subsequently arrested for failing to comply with conditions given by an officer in charge. Her next court appearance is scheduled in Gore Bay Court for June 23.
