Thelma Martha Ann White died peacefully at Manitoulin Health Centre on April 24, 2014 at the age of 94. Born to John and Mary Ann (nee Kay) Lanktree in Carnarvon Township on November 6, 1919. Predeceased by first husband Mathew Hunter in 1962 and later predeceased by second husband James White in 2007. Survived by sister Nora Hall and sister-in-law Shirley Lanktree. Also predeceased by brothers Ivan Lanktree (Hazel), Harry Lanktree (Mary), Arden Lanktree first wife Dean and second wife Eunice, and Douglas Lanktree. And predeceased by sister Isabell and Cliff McCulligh and brother-in-law Ozzie Hall. Beloved mother of Jeneen (Reuben) Phillips; and her son Keith and his wife Sharn who both predeceased Thelma. Loved step-mother of Jim (Joyce) White and Joyce (Dave) Ham. Thelma will be fondly remembered by her grandchildren Debbie (Maurizio) Presot, Laurie (Greg) Morrow, Shelley (Perry) Hunter-Mousseau, Tracey Hunter (predeceased), Tim (Karen) White, Bob (Jackie) White, Brad (Shan) Ham, Lynn Ham, John and friend Leanne. She will be missed dearly by her great-grandchildren Marco, Nico, Brek, Liam, James, Laura, Christopher, Steven, Brett, Courtland, Carter and William (predeceased). She will also be sadly missed by many nieces and nephews. Thelma loved gardening, sewing, and outdoor activities. She was one of the original members of Eastern Manitoulin Friendship Club and had become a life member of Assiginack Horticultural Society. Family and friends gathered at Knox United Church, Manitowaning on Friday, April 25, 2014 from 7 pm to 9 pm. Funeral Service was held at Knox United Church, Manitowaning on Saturday, April 26, 2014 at 11 am with Rev. Martin Garniss officiating. Burial will be at Hilly Grove Cemetery at a later date.
