Nature Walk

There’s something about nature

That can patch up your soul,

Heal all your transgressions

Make you feel whole.

The world and its problems

Can bring you to ground,

But blue sky and fresh air

Will make you feel sound.

There’s always a problem

That we have to face,

A love gone away

Or a touch of disgrace.

But walk in the woodland,

Watch bird on the wing.

Can shrink all the problems

And make your heart sing.

To think about others

And show that you care

Will make you forget

All the burdens you bear.

So walk in the sunshine.

I’m sure you’ll feel fine.

Take what your God offers

Comfort, Love, Peace of mind.

-Pat Hall, 2017

Ron and Juanita Gilchrist had lunch with Ron and Justeen Anstice on Sunday. They were here to attend the memorial for Ted Bowerman.

Tyra Young celebrated her 19th birthday a couple of weeks ago.

A good crowd for Bingo. Some of the residents. Always good to have them back with us.

Well, a couple of games. After the games, with Mum. She says, “I’m the BEST” today, at least!

We had eight tables for cribbage and, as always, a delicious lunch.  Two 24 hands today, Noreen and Lina; first, Dorothy A. and Jessie, 963; second, Betty Jean and Bill, 957; third, Bert and Jay, 939; low, Hugh and Lyla, 751; door, Dorothy C., Dorothy A., and Hugh C.

Sorry to hear of the death of Joe O’Brien. Thinking of you all.

This week re-reading our Island’s own authors Murdocks “Master of Deception,” and Marian’s “Once Upon an Island.” I liked the life and history in the last, the real life setting. I did have the second book too but loaned it out, But!! Laura Scott gave me a couple of tulips they are actually Canada 150. I have some that are creamy yellow, supposedly the red and white, 150s, not. You just don’t know what you’re buying in the bulb! I guess I’m behind time in the thank you, Sissy, I just found a gift in my pocket!

Marissa is back at Island Fish and Chips, smiling. Cal and I had lunch there Saturday. We chatted with Ken Elford and his son Greg who was here from Toronto to see his Dad.

We drove around the harbour where a goose family was holding up traffic. I counted 20 youngsters, two families and one Daddy, it seemed? The blended families occur everywhere! How wonderful nature is! Big plopping splashes as the young ones had to jump in from a bit of a height. What a long line, as the babies swam single file behind the adults. Beautiful sunny day too! Fills your heart with sunshine.

Wendy had relatives from Germany here and was taking them for a hike on the Bowerman trail.

Hello, Randolph and Kay. Thinking of you, Elaine Denovan.

We can do no great things, only smaller things with great love! Mother Theresa

We had in our midst today a group of wonderful musicians with most generous hearts.

We also had some wonderful cooks who put up the most delicious desserts for our guests and our entertainers at the hall.

The Manitouliners claimed it was a good practice session for them as it was the first time they had all been together since their winter sabbaticals. Thank you to Lyle, Gordy, Norm, Harold, Peter, George and Lori. A special thanks to June McDougall for her reading “The Deck of Cards.” The door prize winner was Reta Vanhorn, a beautiful planter/flowers. I’m still singing.

Later in the evening I sat with Joan and Bordie at Carol’s and Earl’s, then went and let Mum beat me at cards!

On the Wings of Eagles was our sermon today. So interesting. Silver Wings (Dwight’s song) is the name of our family group to be represented in the Relay for Life.

There’s a wonderful collection of cousins expected to join together for the cause.

The elderberries are loaded with blooms this year, lots of fruit, perhaps. The pear tree at the rock cut is doing its thing. It looked dead after the porcupine did his thing last year, beautiful.

Singing I’ll Be with You in Apple Blossom Time! Now!

Hey, some mornings in life we get a kick-start. But, things turned out OK. To all you ailing folk, get well soon! I was talking to Pauline last evening; she sounds fine.
