Tehk Talk – March 21, 2018

Bid euchre at Providence Bay on Monday afternoon found me the big winner of the door prize. I never get to the top of the heap in the bidding wars! A lot of fun always, I went by with Betty Jean again.

Stopped in at Loco Beanz for a coffee, it would seem that Annette and Wes have had a very busy week with the grandchildren’s visit!

Euchre Tournament at Tehkummah on Thursday evening, saw Jeneen on K.P. duty. St. Paddys cake too! First place, Pat and Donna, 81; a tie for third, fourth and fifth, 76, Hugh and Pat, Brad and Bill, Ted and Dorothy, (Brad and Bill donated their prizes back); Dave and Laurene, 8 ;lone hands; low, Janet and Anna, 47; door prize, Betty Jean.

Sympathy to the family of Effie (Case) Freeman this past week. You are all in my prayers.

So nice to have some of our holidaying cribbage players back, Sandra, Bob, Betty, Barb and Rick, who got the high hand, 24; first, Cal and Rick, 928; second, Yogi and I, 927; third, Barb and Betty, 925; low, Donna and Hugh, 729; door prizes, Wooden heart, Sandra and yours truly.

Well, didn’t Tehkummah hit the front page again last week! Road open to local traffic. I thought that would be me, but one ride down through and I have decided that I will use the 10th side road, that could be a very dangerous route, delivery truck, three cars in a row coming up the hill. So, I’m going to keep it safer by not using it! The extra 10 minutes? I think is the more “carefully cautious” route. Also great for viewing wildlife, must have been at least 40 deer in Brown’s field.

“Five more minutes.” Scotty was on a TV morning show with his newest song Thursday morning. Susan Ward showed me on her phone, first I’d heard it, and it is good! I think it has gone platinum? Already?

My 64th wedding anniversary date, how can that be, for I’m no older than Jack Benny! A nice one-hour long conversation with my son Derek on Friday morning in honour of this date. Saturday morning, an annual call from friends Helen O. and a nice surprise call from Barb B., and on such a sun shining day wasn’t that so great! Sherry, too, thinking of me today. Talked to Kim and Kathy this evening on the phone. Sat with one gentleman at supper, and another paid for my meal, thank you so much. My day was super, super! I popped over to visit friend Helen at the Wiky nursing home and arrived in time for the St. Paddy’s day show. “Hey, Hey, Hey. Happy Spring!” Entertainers Gord Greenaugh, Lyle Dewar, Norm Hore and Wayne Smith all decked out in their green and fedoras. The girls pasted hats and accessories to the viewers, as well. I sat beside Helen, Dot, Elizabeth, Mrs. Campbell. Nearby, Nora Deforge and Elnora Sagle and Joyce Sprack. A fine selection of Irish music, as well as the standards (western). I delivered Helen to her daughter Bertha’s home afterwards, and just about knocked down the house in the process. Next time I back up, I’ll clean the rear windows first! Maybe!

3 pm Sunday, I’m in my lazy girl chair, feet up, I was ready to get off of them! It’s not that I do much, it’s just that it “don’t” take much to tire me in my old age. We had a nice Irish style church service. Complete with jokes and songs and definitely Irish style pot luck. Beans, bread and loads of desserts.

Some valuable prizes were won by the luckiest (for Irish of course). I think they were of unspeakable value! A super visiting time added to the day’s mix. Thank you to all who joined us and contributed to that delicious meal.

Sherry caught up to her vacuum cleaner brush. That is an epic story in its own right!

Heard today that our sometimes neighbour Gaetan, took a fall on the ice. Hope you are recovering, girl!

I took some of Mum’s albums over to the Hall today. Her Expositor clippings from past years, pretty interesting.

Trivia time at Knox Church Hall on Friday, March 23 at 7 pm. Get your teams of six or come along and join one. Bring your own snacks! $5.00.
