November 14—Wednesday was cold but sunny. We do not have too much sunshine these days.
Campbell Horticultural Society held their November meeting on Tuesday at the community centre in Spring Bay. Around 20 people attended. It was their annual meeting and here are the election results: President, Sally Blackburn-Sloss; 1st Vice President, Carol Lang; 2nd Vice President, Jon Bois; Secretary, Penny Palonen; Treasurer, Mary White. The guest speaker was Marion Sloss (making bows). A tasty lunch was served by the hostesses. Next meeting will be at the Pentecostal fellowship room on December 10 at 11:30 am. It will be a Christmas potluck noon meal. Bring your dishes please. You can bring mitts or something for the food bank if you wish. Program by the executive.
There were many luncheons and services held for Remembrance Day. They were much enjoyed, and thanks to all the veterans who took part.
Our mail goes to Toronto now to be sorted. There was no mail on Monday and my news didn’t get in.
A large number of people attended the hospital luncheon, bazaar and bake sale last Saturday in Mindemoya. It was nice to see so many out.
We extend sympathy to the Granger family in the passing of George. He was one of the birthday group (around 97).
Happy birthday to Lynda Peever who is celebrating this Saturday with a party at the Mindemoya curling club room. I hope she enjoys her day. And also to our birthday gal Audrey Williamson who is in the 97-year-old group. Have a good day Audrey!
All the best to the group who are off to Haiti from the Island. We hope everything goes well!
Our sympathy to all who lost their homes and loved ones in the Philippines. And were do you start! A sad situation.
November 7—It hasn’t been too sunny this week. Lots of fowl suppers, Christmas bazaars and luncheons. A busy time. Come out and enjoy them.
St. Francis Anglican Church ladies are having their annual Christmas luncheon, bake sale, and much more at the community centre in Mindemoya on November 23. Soup, sandwiches and goodies will be served. Hope to see you.
Watched the Grand Slam curling in Abbotsford, B.C. last week. The play offs were on Sunday. Glen Howard and Kevin Martin had a good game. Glen won. In the ladies it was Muirhead against Rachel Homan from Ottawa. Congratulations to all the players. They were good games to watch when you found them on TV.
Several from here went to the Gore Bay United Church fowl supper on Wednesday. It was a lovely hot meal and well served. Much enjoyed.
Get well wishes to Mary White who is home now after being in the hospital several days.
Happy belated birthday wishes to Lillian Greenman and Christian Young who had early November birthdays.
The Eye Van was in Mindemoya last week and many took advantage of the service. A number of people went to Tehkummah last Saturday to their Christmas luncheon.
The Nolands are putting in a culvert on the north side of the Beaver Road and starting a road in to their property behind Doug Lewis’.
We had a meeting on Wednesday morning at St. Francis Church to make more plans for our Christmas luncheon and etc.
Wednesday brought more rain and wind. It gets so dark so early now at 5 pm. It’s dark and makes for a long evening.
Hallowe’en was quiet here. Just some wee tots trick or treating. Their costumes were nice. The weather was a bit on the rainy side.
