LITTLE CURRENT—Skate Canada Manitoulin closed out a fantastic season with ‘Celebrate,’ a showcase of the club’s talented young figure skaters held on Saturday, April 21 at the Little Current recreation centre.
Lights were dimmed for the afternoon’s events, making photography a bit of a challenge for those in the stands, but providing an added bit of atmosphere for those content to sit and watch.
The themed on-ice events included: ‘New Year’s Eve’ from the All Star programs with Kendra Jordison, Avery Sutherland, Katie Chapman, Kali Francis, Brooklynn Ferguson, Kirsten Bowerman, Morgan Dedman and Violet McGregor; ‘Halloween’ from the CanSkate Programs with Aubrey Monohan, Finlay Card, Ava Mandigo, Grayson Fox, Mason Dedman, Brenna Pollard, Patience Assiniwe, Oliver Wilding, Casey Bowerman, Kaelan Thompson, Parker Johnston, Ogeequa Williston Osawabine, Ben Buzzel, Brooke Varey, Sheila Nahwegabow, Ealainah Peltier, Laily Shawanda, Kamia Bowerman and Elora Shawana; ‘Christmas’ by the transition group performers included Sheila Nahwegahbow, Elainah Peltier, Laily Shawanda, Kamia Bowerman and Elora Shawana; ‘Woodstock’ with the pre-star program included Violet Sutherland, Kirsten Bowerman, Morgan Dedman and Brooklynn Ferguson; ‘Running of the Bulls’ from CanPower included Matthew Wilkin, Alan Wilkin, Brett Mastelko, Xander Thompson, Alyssa Peltier and Meesah Ritchie; ‘Butterfly Festival’ Pre-Star program included Violet Sutherland, Kirsten Bowerman, Morgan Dedman and Brooklynn Ferguson; ‘Cherry Blossom Festival’ from the Star Program included Kendra Jordison, Avery Sutherland, Katie Chapman and Kalie Francis; ‘Lantern Festival’ from the CanSkate programs included Aubrey Monohan, Finlay Card, Ava Mandigo, Grayson Fox, Mason Dedman, Brenna Pollard, Patience Assiniwe, Oliver Wilding, Casey Bowerman, Kaelan Thompson, Parker Johnston, Ogeequa Williston Osawabine, Ben Buzzel, Brooke Varey, Sheila Nahwegahbow, Elainah Peltier, Laily Shawanda, Kamia Bowerman and Elora Shawana; and ‘Holi’ with the Star Program which included Kendra Jordison, Avery Sutherland, Katie Chapman, Alexis Lewis, Kali Francis, Madison Burton and Abbie Drolet.
Soloists at this year’s Celebrate included Kali Francis, Kendra Jordison (twice), Avery Sutherland, Katie Chapman and Alexis Lewis.
This year’s ice show committee included co-chairs Cindy Tarr and Devon Dedman, and members/coaches Lee-Ann Ferguson, Madison Burton, Lynn Begin and Abbie Drolet.
