Show your community spirit this fall

ToM-Harvest-Glory-DaysMANITOULIN—In the interest of community spirit, why not plan on decorating the outside of your home, your yard, your business show window, your church, community hall, Legion hall, etc., etc., with a fall harvest theme?

This year, as part of the newspaper’s contribution to the Taste of Manitoulin event, The Manitoulin Expositor is encouraging a little friendly rivalry among our municipal and First Nation communities, with a focus on the built-up areas.

The decorating period starts now, so start looking for corn stalks, hay/straw bales, wheat sheaves or make a scarecrow and help put your community on the map.

The community showing the most spirit in this endeavour (and judges will consider decorated businesses, homes/gardens, institutions like churches and community halls as well as property owned by the municipality or First Nation itself when they make the rounds the week following Thanksgiving Weekend) will be awarded a large, professionally produced sign that can be mounted at the community entrance which will proudly declare that this community has won the 2013 Community Spirit Award for Autumn Harvest Decorating. The sign will be produced with the cooperation of Beacon Images.

More details will follow in next week’s paper and on The Expositor’s website www.manitoulin.ca and please also see the advertisement on Page 5A of this week’s paper.
