LITTLE CURRENT— The Little Current Lions Club Haweater Weekend will kick off tomorrow (Thursday, July 30) with the Miss Manitoulin Pageant at the Manitoulin Hotel and Conference Centre in Little Current.

This year’s pageant will see six girls compete for the 2015 title including:

19-year-old Brittany Manitowabi of Wikwemikong, 14-year-old April Torkopoulos of Gore Bay, 15-year-old Sarah Bayer of M’Chigeeng, 15-year-old Delaney Madore of Gore Bay, 16-year-old Megan Misner of Gore Bay and 13-year-old Kieran Harper-Hogge of Little Current.

The girls will go through a multi-tiered process to determine who will be crowned the next Miss Manitoulin, including one-on-one interviews prior to the pageant with the judges, a fashion show featuring Island fashions, an evening gown competition, and a talent or speech component.

Judges this year will be Miss Wikwemikong Destinee Kaboni, who represented Manitoulin at the Miss Indian World Pageant this past spring, Outpost General Store owner Kristin Luoma and Little Current Lion Ruth Ann Bastert.

“All the girls are so friendly and beautiful inside and out,” commented Miss Manitoulin committee member Robin Burridge. “They all seem very excited for this year’s pageant and have been busy working on their talent or speeches and their runway walks for the fashion show. The judges will really have their work cut out for them selecting just one Miss Manitoulin.”

“The fashion show is going to be a lot of fun as well,” continued Ms. Burridge. “The contestants will be sporting this summer’s hottest fashions from across Manitoulin from Dreamer’s Cove, Outpost General Store, My Ol’ Blues, Boarderline, Cindy’s Clothesline, The Kuku Hut and Turners. We are also excited to have KT Timmermans from 100.7 The Island hosting the pageant again this year.”

Don’t miss out on seeing who is going to be crowned Miss Manitoulin 2015 tomorrow at 7 pm at the Manitoulin Hotel and Conference Centre. Doors open at 6:30 pm and admission is $5 for adults and $3 for children 12 and under.
