Silver Water mail delivery to be provided through community mailboxes

SILVER WATER—Canada Post has now officially confirmed that community mailbox delivery services will be in place for the Silver Water Canada Post Office in the near future.

“We held our final interviews for the position of post master (including a new member of the community in the past few days), and unfortunately among all the candidates we had interviewed we have not been able to find and hire a new postmaster,” explained Phil Legault, of Canada Post, on Monday.

Mr. Legault added, “we will now be implementing the new community mailbox delivery service program as of May 2.”

Rainbow schools receive Student Voice funding

RAINBOW DISTRICT—Innovative projects are being implemented in Rainbow District School Board (RDSB) schools thanks to funding provided by the Ministry of Education (MOE) Student Voice Program.

Ten RDSB schools, including Manitoulin Secondary School, will share a total of $14,500 in Speak Up Project grants to support the ministry’s renewed vision of achieving excellence.

Student Voice funds projects that help promote important initiatives such as healthy schools, student success and equity, and inclusive education.

“It is important for students to have an opportunity to lead projects that contribute to their overall education,” said Norm Blaseg, RDSB director of education. “The Speak Up grants allow students to be heard and to take action. Students not only develop leadership skills, they encourage collaboration and foster student success.”

While each Speak Up project varies from school to school, the initiatives have one thing in common—they are intended to strengthen student voice. Manitoulin Secondary School (MSS) is one of the schools receiving funding under this program.
