In loving memory of Rancy “Alvin” Wassegijig who passed away peacefully at the Manitoulin Health Centre on Saturday, August 20, 2011 at the age of 67. Survived by special friend Rose Wassegijig. Loving father of Valarie (Andrew) Raphael, Steven Wassegijig, and Allan (Jen) Wassegijig. Dear grandfather of Nicole, Alicia, Andee, Aiden, Allex and Lauryn, all of Mount Pleasant, Michigan. Loving brother of Bernice Osawabine of Sudbury, Priscilla Wassegijig, Winnie Wassegijig, Eleanor (Tim predeceased) Debassige, Bernard Wassegijig and Rosemary Wassegijig. Special nephew of Aunt Angeline Kimewon and Uncle Joe (Lynda) Mishibinijima, and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, nephews, and special cousins. Predeceased by parents Sarah (Mishibinijima) and Gus Wassegijig, grandparents Catherine (Recollet), Frederick Mishibinijima, Theresa (Shawana) and David Wassegijig. Special godmother Josephine (Pitawanakwat) Gabow, Uncle David (Victoria) Mishibinijima and Aunt Mary (Duke) Smykalski. Alvin loved to visit his children and grandchildren. He also loved to play the slots, lotto games, and enjoyed doing crossword puzzles. Alvin worked at EB Eddy Forest Products and Fisher Body in Lansing, Michigan. Visitation began at 4 pm on Monday, August 22, 2011 at Buzwah Church. Funeral Mass at 11 am on Wednesday, August 24, 2011 at Holy Cross Mission. Burial at Wikwemikong Cemetery. Arrangements entrusted to Island Funeral Home, Little Current.
