Providence Bay News and Notes – Mar 5-14

We wish Erma McAllister a very happy birthday on March 7. You are an inspiration to all of us. She is celebrating 97 years. Congratulations from all of us. We love you.

Doug McDermid is in Mindemoya Hospital. We hope you will be feeling better soon.

Jack McDermid passed away. He was from the Oshawa area and had a summer home here. Our prayers go out to the family.

Our thoughts are also with Ellen Holroyd in the passing of her mother at this time. Ellen is president of the Curling Club in Providence Bay.

Don Burke is able go downstairs to the basement. He has exercise equipment to help him. He is walking with a walker. Our thoughts are with you both at this time.

Myra Tallman’s quilt “Count Your Blessings” won Champion Quilt at the Providence Bay Fair, went to District, then went on to OAAS Convention in Toronto where it was judged against the best in Ontario. Congratulations Myra for winning Reserve Grand Champion. This is the first time a quilt has won a prize for Northern Ontario. A double congratulations, Myra. The Providence Bay Agriculture Society is very, very proud. Thank you.

The weather is something else. We might as well grin and bear it. It is going to be with us for awhile yet.

Please remember our seniors and veterans at this time of year. Give them a call or visit.

If you have any news please call me, Gloria, at 705-377-4449.

Until next time remember to give thanks for what we have on this Island. God Bless.
