The monthly euchre tournament scores were as follows: First place went to Jim and Fred with 85 points; Pat and Irene placed second with 80 points; Sharleen and Lenora were third with 74 points; fourth place was a tie between Ken and Dorothy; and Marlaine and Marg with 73 points. The low score was taken by Eva and Jackie. There was a tie for the most lone hands and was won by Pat and Irene and Marg and Marlaine with six lone hands for each team.
People were talking about hearing coyotes howling on the outskirts of town which is always such a lonely and spooky sound.
There was a very good turnout of 35 people at the monthly Providence Bay Curling Club breakfast on February 2. Although the breakfast is only held the first Thursday of every month, they are open every weekday morning from 7-9 am for coffee and toast. All are welcome.
Many people were out at friend’s homes to watch Super Bowl LI together. It’s a fantastic time to get together, watch some football, watch the halftime show and enjoy lots of snacks.
With the cooler temperatures that we’ve been experiencing lately, the ice has been forming in the bay and thickening on local area lakes. More and more ice huts can be seen out on the lakes.
Manitoulin Pet Rescue is excited to announce their first fundraiser of 2017 is a reduced fee microchip clinic and nail trim clinic for cats and dogs. It’s being held on Saturday, February 11 at the Mindemoya Missionary Church from 12:30 to 4 pm. Send an email to juliemcdermid@amtelecom.net and she will send you the registration form to complete and bring with you to the clinic. Microchipping is a safe and reliable way to ensure that found pets can be reunited with their families. Chips can be read in veterinarian offices and returned to the registered address. If you love them—don’t lose them.
