We had a great turnout for the pancake breakfast held by the Coffee Club at the Curling Club last Thursday. Here are some of the comments by our guests. “We are from Sarnia and Sudbury. We have been coming here for three years staying at the Prov Bay Tent and Trailer Park. We love the improvements being made at the playground and the ice cream stand as well as being able to rent kayaks there. The breakfast at the coffee club was great and makes you feel you are past of this community. Thanks to all the volunteers for making this a great vacation,” said the McColeman Family.

Other visitors to the breakfast were Emile Stephens, Tom Friesen, Charity Frieson, Kaysa, Kieran, and Kaelan Stone. From Fort McMurray was James Hood and son Grayson who will be staying for a month. A big thank you to Matt Young for preparing a lovely birthday meal for Lisa Langridge and Harold Kirk. Attending were Sally Miller, Jerry Langridge, Courtney and Peggy Grey, Garyson Hood, Muriel Blue and Everett Pattison sent their regards to all from the Gore Bay retirement home.

On Aug 2, 2014 the Scottish Dewar reunion took place at the Prov Curling Club with over 60 relatives in attendance. There was a delicious buffet catered by Matt Young, Becky Smith and Nenee Cranston. After the meal there was a little music. The patriarch of the clan, Mr. Harold Dewar, emceed the occasion. We also had an audio and visual history of the clan given by the lovely and talented Pat Kostigan. This was followed by the musical and history ballad by the gifted Darrell Dewar. We were also happy to have a few words from our B.C. cousin Karen who came a long way to give us the western side of our ancestors. The woodworking genius Barry Vanhorne gave away wooden wristwatches for a prize. To end our day we followed Paul McDonald through town as he played the bagpipes.

Daryl and Monica Sandercott are visiting us from Calgary with their two sons Tyson and Elliott. Happy birthday to Audrey Case.

Remember our seniors and veterans during this busy time.
