The Central Manitoulin 2016 Recycling and Garbage Calendar is available for everyone at the township office. It lists all acceptable recyclable materials and the correct dates for collection. Remember to have your garbage out to the curbside by 6 am. It also informs of dump hours and tipping fees. The dump in Providence Bay is every Saturday from 1 pm until 5 pm.

Get well wishes go out to Don Prescott who is in Little Current Hospital. Naida is also there recovering from surgery.

It’s nice to see that the OFSC trail has now been groomed to the village. Snowmachine enthusiasts should make it a point to come for an early morning ride and visit the curling club for their coffee club. You can get coffee and toast in a warm atmosphere. They’re open Monday to Friday 7:30 – 9:30 am.

We have a mystery in the village. Someone has been down at the boardwalk and used a snowblower to clear the entire path to the end. Thank you to whomever you are. What a pleasant surprise.

Most of you will be aware of our slow but steady work on the Providence Bay Village Square that began as a community initiative in early 2015. As spring approaches we are getting ready to carry on with the bulk of the work and bring the project much closer to completion this year. Lots of very visual and wonderful things will be happening on the site once the weather warms up.

Most importantly though, we have been fortunate to receive many contributions of time, equipment and financial support toward the project from a number of generous donors and community members. If you wish to make a financial donation to the project, tax receipts are available for financial contributions. Donations should be payable to the Municipality of Central Manitoulin and designated for the “Providence Bay Village Square Project.”
