We’ve sure been getting a lot of rain and cooler than average temperatures but some elders say that now that we’ve had our first thunder and lightning storm that we can expect warmer weather to follow. Let’s hope they’re right.
The rain has sure been helping everything to turn green though and the grass is growing and the buds on the trees have turned into leaves and the growth is wonderful to see. It’s also a beautiful time to drive around our amazing island and see all the trilliums and marsh marigolds in full bloom.

Keep coming out to the Providence Bay Farmers’ Market every Saturday morning to check out new deals. It’s held outside at the Harbour Centre near the beach.
Everyone is invited to participate in a community work bee at the Village Square on Saturday May 1 to weed and clean up the gardens and do some planting of newly donated perennials and shrubs. Come anytime between 10 am and 4 pm with your garden tools and help out for as long or short a time as you can. If you have perennial offerings from your own garden to donate, please drop those off at the Square on Saturday. All donations of time, energy and materials are much appreciated. Keep an eye out on our highways this weekend since the Manitoulin Passage Ride will be hosting their annual event. The Mutchmor Gallery will be one of their support stations on Saturday so we may see some cyclists in our village. Remember to use caution when you see them and that you are required by law to leave a minimum one-metre distance when passing them. We all have to share the road safely.
The Bluegrass in the Country Music Festival will be hosting their annual gathering at the Providence Bay Fairgrounds on June 6 – 9. Don’t forget to get your tickets for some great entertainment.
