You don’t need a partner for the regular games, but you do for the monthly tournament. It’s a great evening of entertainment.

A 50th birthday party was held at the Providence Bay Curling Club for the family and friends of Cheryl Sheppard on February 2. The guests enjoyed a bonspiel of curffling and a delicious dinner, some drinks and some dancing. A great time was had by all. A big thank you to her friends Ingrid for organizing the event, Bonnie for the beautiful cake and to Malena for all her help. Also thanks to boyfriend Alex who paid for the club rental and helped out in the kitchen.

The 2nd Annual Manitoulin Snow Drags were also held on February 2 and were a huge success again. They will be hosting another one on March 2 at the same location on Hartley Sideroad. Mark your calendars.

Belated birthday wishes go out to Dave Cranston who celebrated February 4 and to Duane Cress who celebrated on February 6.

The community was saddened to hear about the passing of longtime resident Ab Oakes on February 4. He was a fixture in the community and will be missed on his regular patrols of the village.

There was a wonderful 93rd Birthday Party held at the Community Hall for local resident Linus Wark on February 10.

Happy Birthday wishes go out to Denis Paquet who celebrates on February 13.

Don’t forget to send some love your Valentine’s way on February 14. For a great evening out, call the Schoolhouse Restaurant as this is one of their specialty nights when they are open during the winter.

Our local good Samaritan that has been keeping the boardwalk accessible to all walkers throughout the winter wants everyone to be aware that since the freezing rain this past week that it is no longer safely accessible.

The annual ladies’ bonspiel is being held this weekend, February 15-17 at the Curling Club. Head out to cheer for your favourite team, support the local curling club, have a bite to eat or a drink in the licenced bar. The theme this year is “Back to the Sixties.”

This will also be Family Day long weekend and the MNRF has made it one of the weekends throughout the year that you do not require a fishing licence to enjoy this popular activity. So get your family members out there and have some fun.
