There is barely five or six feet of beach left
To the Expositor:
People of Providence Bay!
I would like to bring to your attention the Providence Bay Beach, once called the most beautiful beach on the Island. You can no longer call it that. The weeds have taken over. I realize there are endangered species, but there is only five to six feet of beach left. On windy days, sawdust from an old mill washes up leaving mounds of dark mucky sawdust. The only ones enjoying the beach are people who let their dogs run free, let them do their business without picking up after them. Why bother? The township doesn’t seem to care. Thought there was a bylaw. Maybe hire someone or a student to give out tickets. With the money they would make from that, it would pay the person they hired. Good summer job for a student. I have camped at the park with my family but am seriously considering going elsewhere next year. Believe me, I am not the only one who sees how much tourism has tapered off. Come on people, take pride in what you have. Call your MP. Each township has money put aside. Let’s get the beach back to what it once was.
