OPP to partake in annual torch run for Special Olympics Thursday

MINDEMOYA–On Thursday, June 6 members of the Manitoulin OPP Detachment will be running in the annual Law Enforcement Torch Run for Special Olympics, sponsored by the Ontario Association of Chiefs of Police. The Torch Run is also celebrating its 27th anniversary this year.

The run will start at the Lions Pavilion beside the Community Centre on Hwy 542 in Mindemoya at 9:30 am and travel the streets in Mindemoya and finishing at the same location This year, law enforcement runners are striding to build on the 2012 money raised and you can help by calling the Manitoulin OPP Detachment at 1-888-310-1122 or (705)368-2200 and making a donation to the Adopt-a-Cop program. Anyone wishing to participate can run, jog, walk, bike and can pick up pledge sheets at the Little Current OPP Detachment. T-shirts supporting the run can be purchased at the Little Current OPP Detachment.

All raised funds across the province help provide a local year-round program of fitness, recreation and competition for special athletes.
