OPP charge Bracebridge man with possession of child pornography

BRACEBRIDGE – Members of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Child Sexual Exploitation Unit have charged a Bracebridge man following a five month child pornography investigation.

In May, 2014 police from the Bracebridge OPP Detachment were called to a local computer repair shop in regards to a computer that had been dropped off for repair. A computer repair technician noticed that the computer contained evidence of images of child sexual abuse. The matter was turned over to the OPP Child Sexual Exploitation Unit for further investigation.

As a result of the investigation and analysis of the computer, a large quantity of child sexual abuse images, were located on the device.

On October 24, 2014 police arrested and charged Barry (Bart) HARRIS, age 77 years, of Bracebridge Ontario with one count of possession of child pornography.

The accused was released the same day and is scheduled to appear in court today, November 25, 2014 at the Ontario Court of Justice in Bracebridge Ontario.

The investigation is continuing.
