GORDON/BARRIE ISLAND—With a new season has come changes at Manitoulin Golf, and one of the changes is the announcement that Cheryl Deeg has taken over the position of manager of the Clubhouse Pub and Grill.

“I’m feeling pretty good about the season. We have had a huge success to begin the season,” Ms. Deeg told The Expositor. She had worked a couple of seasons previously at Manitoulin Golf, prior to taking over as manager of the clubhouse. Ms. Deeg owned and operated the Twin Bluffs Restaurant in Gore Bay for more than a decade.

“I have always enjoyed working here. It’s nice to see all the people, to see familiar faces, some new faces and other people that I haven’t seen in a long-time,” said Ms. Deeg. She pointed out a few new staff members have been welcomed this year. “We are very excited to have the new staff as part of the team, and I am looking forward to working with all our staff members this season.”

“Manitoulin Golf and the Clubhouse Pub and Grill are open to all members of the public,” said Ms. Deeg. “A lot of clubs are private in other areas, and they don’t necessarily know that our facilities are open to all members of the public.”

The menu at the Clubhouse pub and Grill, “has a variety of items to choose from,” said Ms. Deeg, who pointed out the full menu can be found on the Manitoulin Golf website and Facebook, along with tournament dates and special events.

Currently, the clubhouse is open from Tuesday through Saturday from 12 noon until seven pm, and Sunday from 9 am to 2 pm. “We will be extending this to seven days a week and extending our hours of operation in the summer,” said Ms. Deeg.

As well, “we’re excited that we have been able to add a couple of new golf carts to our fleet,” continued Ms. Deeg. “And we will soon be providing a stay and play soon, upstairs accommodations above the clubhouse for visiting golfers who want to stay and play at the golf course. All the details can be viewed on our website as these facilities become available.”
