This beautiful mural on the outside wall of Loco Beanz in Gore Bay was recently completed by Marcus Mohr.

GORE BAY – No doubt local residents and visitors to Gore Bay have, in the past few months, noticed the new mural being painted on the side wall of Loco Beanz.

Marcus Mohr, who had been hired by the town to complete the mural (with funding having been provided by the government to the town for the project), explained that the new mural, “is a Letraset collage that had been done by Jack Whyte. The town had approached Dylon and Ashley Whyte about having this collage painted on the building.” The beautiful collage depicts many buildings of the past in town and some of the present buildings as well.

Mr. Mohr wrote on Facebook late last week, “the Town of Gore Bay mural project is finally all painted. It is based on local Gore Bay artist, the late Jack Whyte’s artwork, with additional design and cleanup for use as a mural by Ashley Whyte. Thank you to the Town of Gore Bay for providing the opportunity to work on the project; and to Paul Sheppard for the donation of his scissor lift. Paul thought the mural was important for the town and donated the remainder of the time when the project ran over the timeline!”

“There were a lot of people who helped with the project,” wrote Mr. Mohr. “Ken Philpott put in many hours after work and on weekends and I can’t thank him enough. My girlfriend Katie and daughter Scarlet came out to help along with Katie’s friends Jena and Britney. Helen Siksek and Kristy Carleton were also a huge help offering their time and Helen allowing us to store tools on her property. And, thanks to Mike McKechnie at Mindemoya Home Hardware for donating some of the paint for the project.”

The beautiful new mural is approximately 23×40 foot in size.
