GORE BAY—As promised, the new four-unit residential seniors housing complex in Gore Bay will be completed in time for the new year.

“They will be ready by January 1 for tenants to move into,” stated Kurtis Noble, who along with his brother Kyle are the development proponents of the development. “We are just doing the final touches on the building before it actually opens.”

In August, Gore Bay council approved a zoning bylaw amendment on the lot in proposed for development as a four-unit residential seniors dwelling (four-plex). The proposal included rezoning the property from residential (RI) zone to multiple family residential (RFM) zone to permit the four unit, 88.4 foot by 38.2 foot dwelling, four-plex. The subject, 1,844 square metre vacant parcel of land, has frontages of 38.1 metres on Main Street and 44.3 metres on Water Street.

Each unit  in the single story building is about 750 square feet in size, with two bedrooms, one-and-a-half bathrooms and all with in-floor heat.

“We actually have one unit available to be rented out,” Mr. Noble told the Recorder.

“We have been really good luck weather wise (this fall) and our contractors and designers have done a very good job,” said Mr. Noble. “Everyone worked very well together and it was a very successful project.”
