It is the last week of school until the Christmas holidays! Everyone is looking forward to having a break from classes.
A Christmas joke for you: What is the first step in using a computer at Christmas? “First, yule log on!”
On Tuesday, December 11, both the junior and senior boys’ basketball teams were in action at MSS. The junior team played a game against the Warriors from Wiikwemkoong and lost 35-55. The seniors played a close game against the Jeunesse Nord Aigles from Elliot Lake but lost 32-41. Each team played very well! Great job, Mustangs!
On Wednesday, December 12, MSS held its annual Winter Talent Show. There was everything from Christmas songs to rock and roll. An MSS version of the Twelve Days of Christmas was presented by teachers, teams, groups and classes where the five gold rings were replaced by bowls of soup. Thank you, Mr. Balfe for your enthusiasm. All the students enjoyed the performances! Great job and thank you to all that performed!
Also on Wednesday, December 12, the annual Christmas Concert was held in the evening. The concert featured performances from various MSS music groups and students from C.C. McLean Public School and Central Manitoulin Public School. The Grade 9 Band performed ‘Santa Claus is Coming to Town’; ‘All Aboard!’; ‘The Dreidel Song’; ‘Frosty the Snowman’; and ‘Maya: The Lost Empire.’ The MSS Vocal Group performed ‘Silent Night’; ‘Tidings of Comfort and Joy’; ‘Fruitcake’; and Veni Veni Emmanuel.’ The Grade 4/5 group from C.C. McLean Public School performed ‘O Little Town of Bethlehem’ and ‘We Wish You A Merry Christmas.’ The Grade 3/4 group from Central Manitoulin Public School sang ‘We Wish You A Merry Christmas’ while playing bells. The Senior Music class from MSS performed ‘Jingle Bell Rock.’ Thank you to everyone that performed at the concert! I hope everyone enjoyed it and got you into the Christmas spirit!
On Friday, December 14 there was an open gym for gymnastics from 3 to 6 pm! Remember that everyone is welcome to join, especially beginners! Hope to see you there next time!
Tomorrow, December 20 is Awards Night at 7 pm in the cafeteria. Come out to welcome back last year’s graduates and see them receive recognition for their achievements while at MSS!

As a part of the Christmas season, the Mustangs are celebrating the Twelve Days of Christmas! The first few days were Plaid Day, Christmas karaoke, hot chocolate, candygrams, talent show/Christmas Concert, and Ugly Christmas Sweater Day. Friday, December 14 was the Winter Formal. Monday, December 17 was decorating gingerbread houses, Tuesday, December 18 was apple cider pong and today, Wednesday, is cookie baking, tomorrow is Christmas carolling by vocal group and Friday is a half Movie Day!
Since there seems to be a lot of focus on the Twelve Days of Christmas, I thought I would give you another version that is strictly focused on Kids in the Hall.
