Matthew John Sovie, in his 45th year, was taken away from his loving, caring, wife Cheryl Lynn Sovie (Roy), who loved and cared for him while he fought many ailments in the past four years. Matthew left on his spiritual journey at the MHC in Little Current on Sunday, July 10, 2016. Leaving to mourn are: his children Brandon Armstong and Macy Radford, his stepchildren, Cheyenne Roy (friend Alison), Courtney Shawanda (friend Ellroy), Kristian Ibrahim (Shawanda) (husband Zack), Brandon Shawanda (friend Tess), Destiny Smith and Ocean Shawanda who was also there for her stepfather throughout his last days in the hospital. She helped care for him 24/7. He will be sadly missed by grandchildren Nicholas, Darius, Dominick, Zoey, Kylie, NiBiing, Mariah and Kiarah. Dear son of Leona Sovie (predeceased). Brother to Denise. Survived by many aunts uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins…one cousin whom he wanted mentioned, Bonnie Gauthier, whom he loved as a sister. “Dad” (Pone) left this world with many cherished memories he mentioned towards the end, how he was going to leave us with many funny moments to remember and share with others. He was a hard worker who loved the bush. He enjoyed fishing, camping, cutting wood, and being a guide. His pastime was spending time with family and just really showing and spreading his love for others. He was a very understanding husband and he has taught me that “Love” lasts a lifetime, marry your best friend, your confidante, and live as blissful as it was the last. He will be sadly missed by his wife and all those he has touched in his lifetime. Cremation Service was held at the Sheguiandah First Nation Recreation Centre, Saturday, July 16, 2016. Doors opened at 10 am and Service was held at 7 pm.
