A very successful fundraising gala was held for Manitoulin Pet Rescue at The Waters Edge Restaurant in Gore Bay Saturday. Carol Sheppard, who organized the gala reported that the event was a big success, with $8,057 being raised. A prime rib dinner was served to the many people that packed the restaurant for the event, which also included a silent auction and music provided by Doug Smith and the Manitoulin Swing Band during the evening. Restaurant on Saturday. The evening included a prime rib dinner and many items being bid on in the silent auction. With the restaurant packed for the event a total of $8,057 was raised for the pet rescue group. The event was organized by Carol Sheppard who said extraordinary support for the event was received from Orr’s Valu-Mart, Ashley Jewell, Amanda Beety, Pam and Greg Bond,
Sandra Valiquette and Janice of Eagle Owl Party Rentals. There were 15 door prizes and 40 silent auction items. Generous donations were also received from Sandy McGillivray, Gordon and Beth Smith.
