GORE BAY—Residents and staff of the Manitoulin Lodge Nursing Home in Gore Bay celebrated Robbie Burns day in style last Friday.

The residents and staff at Manitoulin Lodge celebrated Robbie Burns Day as they focused on the Scottish delicacy, haggis. “The haggis was taken by the group throughout the nursing home, led by piper Dave Beaton, and then Jack Brady addressed the haggis,” said Gloria Hall, activities coordinator of the Lodge. She explained a couple of poems were then read, and everyone joined in the singing of Auld Lang Syne.

This was followed by treats being served including tartan cookies, cupcakes, scones and ‘thistles,’ marshmallows dipped in green chocolate and topped with sprinkles. Everyone then took part in the several games like caber toss and golf.
