Steve Arthurs, far right, boasted a successful season out on the water this year.

LITTLE CURRENT—Little Current’s Steve Arthurs has finished another successful kayak season and, after a brief rest, is looking forward to training for 2019.

New this year, Mr. Arthurs attended the Subaru Bruce Peninsula Multisport Race near Wiarton, which consisted of a four-kilometre paddle, a 16-kilometre mountain bike course followed by another four-kilometre paddle.

“I didn’t think I would even hit the top three but I placed second,” Mr. Arthurs shared.

Mr. Arthurs began his season in June with a second place finish at the annual Sudbury canoe Club 11-kilometre race followed by the Canada Day Mindemoya Classic where the kayaker broke two personal best times.

After the Subaru Bruce Peninsula Multisport Race came the Canadian Canoe Marathon Nationals and a 10 kilometre, high performance kayak race where he placed second.

On September 1, Mr. Arthurs rounded off the season locally with a personal best performance at the McLean’s Park Six Hour Relay mountain bike race in Assiginack.

Mr. Arthurs thanked his trusted sponsors at Orr’s Valu-mart, TerraStar Building Products, Manitoulin Fuels, Manitoulin Chiropractic, Elite Training, The Expositor, Harbor Vue Marina, NBS Auto and Sun Swim Pool Designs and Concepts.
