Giving our flora and fauna the opportunity to take back their territory

To the Expositor:

On behalf of the residents on the McLennan Creek Road in Assiginack, a big thank you to the Manitoulin Phragmites Project (Judith Jones, Sheila Madahbeek, Jamie Rowntree, Matthew Scott), the Manitoulin Streams (Maddie Wagar, Liam Campbell) and five young volunteers from Sudbury. This awesome team spent an entire day removing Phragmite in our area. This invasive species spreads quickly and destroys the habitat for native plants, animals, fish and birds. If you have this aggressive intruder growing on your property contact the Manitoulin Phragmites Project. Let’s give our local flora and fauna the opportunity to take back their territory! Great job done!

Sincerely grateful,

Debbie Robinson
