Concerns related to spike in billable hours being billed to Assiginack

To the Expositor:

Please accept this as my personal apology regarding my remarks at the March 20, 2018 Township of Assiginack council meeting. I am sorry if I have misinterpreted the OPP Calls for Service Reports for November 2017 through January 2018. The year to year reports indicate that 279 more hours were billed to the Township of Assiginack during this time period than they were in the comparative 2016-2017 period. All of these billable hours were related to incidents and investigations, not routine patrolling or police presence. My concerns, therefore, were related to this spike and I wonder if this trend is being seen elsewhere on the Island.

Leslie Fields, councillor

Township of Assiginack
