LAKE MANITOU–A heavy ice flow invokes The Blob of horror movie fame as it crawls up the shoreline towards the Lake Manitou home of Betty and Doug Heis. The relentless sheet of late spring ice eventually covered the couple’s boat launch rail system and dug a massive gouge out of their lawn before finally running out of steam. The whole ice flow invasion only took about 15 minutes from beginning to end, according to Ms. Heis, who filmed these video segments and obligingly supplied it to The Manitoulin Expositor.
