Laura Alice Marion O’Brien, a resident of Manitowaning, died peacefully at Manitoulin Health Centre Mindemoya Site, on Sunday, August 17, 2014 at the age of 84. Born to Joyce Brandow (nee Cornelius) and Lee Brandow, at Kagawong on December 26, 1929. Beloved wife of Harold O’Brien (predeceased). Loved mother of Arnold (Michelle), Austin, Joseph (Cheryl-Ann), Donald (Barb, predeceased), Perry (predeceased) and Patrick. Predeceased by her sisters Betty Jean (Lloyd) and Noreen (Harvey) and brother Jim (Susan). Survived by her sisters Leta (Alf), Nelly (Jack) and brothers Joe (Sheila),Lawrence (Debbie). Proud grandmother of 10. Cherished great-grandmother of many. Will always be remembered by many nieces, nephews and friends. Family and friends will gather at Island Funeral Home on Wednesday, August 20, 2014 from 2 pm to 4 pm and 7 pm to 9 pm. Funeral Services will be at Knox United Church, Manitowaning on Thursday, August 21, 2014 at 11 am with Rev. Martin Garniss officiating. Burial will be at Hilly Grove Cemetery.
