LITTLE CURRENT—This Sunday, plan to attend a fundraising brunch and official announcement at Royal Canadian Legion Branch #177 in Little Current.
“Well for once, the initial fundraising campaign of a provincial program will take place in the North, in fact in the small community of Little Current, at Branch 177,” enthused Comrade Roy Eaton, Branch #177 media spokesperson.
Comrade Eaton noted the Legion was proud to announce a partnership between the Royal Canadian Legion and Ontario Provincial Command (RCL-OPC) that will see its Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) service dog program expand within the Province of Ontario.
“The RCL-OPC will provide $225,000 to fund the training and pairing of PTSD service dogs with ill and injured veterans and their families in Ontario,” Comrade Eaton explained.
Branch #177 has been chosen as the Ontario branch to kick off the campaign and will be helping the cause by having a brunch fundraiser with all funds raised going to the PTSD service dog program on Sunday, July 15 from 11 am to 1 pm.
“It will be followed by a presentation by Cous Cousineau, ‘The Dogfather,’ Wounded Warriors Canada with Thai, the service dog,” Comrade Eaton continued. “I am also very pleased that our 1st Vice President, Garry Pond confirmed just today that he will be attending along with a representative from Wounded Warriors of Canada.”
“I think it is quite an honour for District H to have two branches chosen and I thank those at Command for the opportunity,” Comrade Eaton added.
