Knox Charity Golf Tournament raises over $9,000 for Manitoulin charities

MANITOWANING— Over $9,000 was raised to be shared between the Knox Building Fund and local charities in the Manitoulin community at the first annual Knox United Church Charity Golf Tournament held this summer.

Seventy-six golfers participated and close to 100 businesses and individuals either were sponsors or donated funds or their time as volunteers to help make the tournament a success. Manitowaning Mill Home Building Centre was the Title Sponsor of this successful event.

Half of the proceeds were shared between the following charitable organizations: Assiginack Agriculture Society, Assiginack Horticulture Society, Assiginack Public School- Music instruments program, Burns Wharf Theatre Group – Building renovation fund, Manitowaning Fixing our Felines animal rescue group, Manitowaning Library – Digital consortium fees, Manitoulin Family Resources – Building and Maintenance Fund, St. Paul’s Anglican Church – Building and Maintenance fund and the Tehkummah Library.

The 2nd annual Knox Charity Golf Tournament is already scheduled for Tuesday, July 5, 2016. The maximum number of golfers that can be accommodated at the Rainbow Ridge Golf Course is 88 to ensure being finished by 6 pm with a 12:30 pm shotgun start. Based on the results of the first tournament, the objective is to completely sell out in advance. Book your tickets now to reserve your place in the tournament. A $10 per ticket early bird discount ($90) will be offered for payment by June 1, 2016.
