GORE BAY—The hearing in the case of Clinton Gordon Haggart of Little Current, aged 30, has once again been put over, this time until Monday, November 10.
Mr. Haggart, charged with seven counts of arson in five suspicious fires that occurred in Little Current during the summer, did not appear in court on Monday, October 27 for the latest hearing; he continues to remain in custody. He had made an appearance the previous week, on October 20, when it was learned he had retained a new lawyer, Mr. Glenn Sandberg of the law firm Sandberg, Williams, based in Sudbury. The judge agreed then to adjourn the hearing until this past Monday.
On October 27, Mr. Sandberg, who did not appear in court, asked that the hearing be adjourned to November 10 in order for him to acquire documents from the Crown that reveal the evidence against Mr. Haggart, and to bring himself up to date on the file. Her Worship Judge L.A. Toulouse agreed to the request.
Mr. Haggart was arrested, charged and detained in connection with a series of suspicious fires in Little Current homes and businesses within a three-month period this summer.
