John “Ronald” Wakegijig passed away at the Manitoulin Health Centre on Thursday, May 5, 2011 at the age of 67. Ron’s passion was music and cooking but he also had so many other gifts. He loved his language, promoting his culture and traditions. He had unsurpassed knowledge about local history. Predeceased by parents John and Agnes (nee Manitowabi). Husband of Rosemary (nee Jackson). Loving father of Annelind (John), John (Jennifer), Lara (Jonathan), Amy (Earl), Kristen, and Ronnie. Cherished grandfather of Gabby, William, Jeffrey, Lea, Peter, Grace, Connor, Codie Jane. Dear brother of James “Jimmy” (predeceased), Henry James and his sisters Anita, and Elizabeth. Survived by his many godchildren. Visitation was from 6 pm on Saturday, May 7, 2011 at Holy Cross until the Funeral Mass at 11 am on Tuesday, May 10, 2011 at Holy Cross Mission, Wikwemikong.
