Island restaurant fare delights visiting diner

To the Expositor:

My wife recently got a job on the Island and was able to return home to her community. I had the chance to visit recently, and we went for dinner at three of Manitoulin Island’s restaurants: Mindemoya’s Roosteraunt, Wikwemikong’s Eddy’s Family Restaurant and Manitowaning’s Muskie Widow Restaurant. I have to say the service and hospitality at all three restaurants was superb, along with the quality of the food.

At the Roosteraunt, the specialty was meatloaf with mashed potatoes and turnips and carrots. The presentation and taste was delicious. Eddy’s Family Restaurant was the real deal in terms of home cooking. The trip to the Muskie Widow could have been a lonely mid-week dinner in Manitowaning, but the cook, server and host, John, was more than a good cook, he was fast, courteous, and shared his knowledge about the theatre across the street (Debajehmugig), fishing in the area and numerous other Island activities.

I have to say, the food and hospitality around the Island is wonderful and I look forward to moving here to join my wife.

Thank you Manitoulin folks
