KLEINBURG—Manitoulin Radio Communication, or Craig and Kelly Timmermans of 100.7 GLOW and Great Lakes Country 103, were recently feted by the Ministry of Transportation at a Kleinburg event for their work in road safety.

Manitoulin Injury Prevention Coalition (MIPC) nominated Manitoulin Radio Communication for a Road Safety Achievement Award in the category of Media Excellence in Road Safety.

“Proprietors Craig and Kelly Timmermans have a vision for radio broadcasting on Manitoulin Island,” their nomination form from the Coalition states. “As a local injury prevention coalition, working to promote safety for over 16 years, we have greatly benefitted from their support and willingness to help share injury prevention messages with their listening audience, the community of Manitoulin and beyond.”

“Manitoulin Radio Communications offer listeners a choice of music, up-to-date information in a timely manner, and provide a platform to promote road safety messages which help to change attitudes and influence behaviours,” the nomination continues. “In an era of digital updates, they continue to provide a hands-free listening experience. They have gained a loyal listening audience and we would like to recognize them as a valued community partner.”
