Hugh David Sharples passed away peacefully at the Manitoulin Centennial Manor on January 16, 2013 in his 74th year. Loving husband of Kathy (nee MacKay) and father of Rob and his wife Katie Tingley, Brian and his wife Kim, and Karen Rose and her husband Gifford. Proud grandfather of Brett, Tyler, Jade, Nyah, and Mehkai. He will also be sadly missed by many neighbours, friends and relatives both in Canada and England. Dave earned his Masters in Electrical Engineering before immigrating to Canada in 1971. He spent the next 25 plus years working for Ontario Hydro, rising to the level of Senior Manager, Protection and Control. After retirement Kathy and Dave built their dream retirement home on Manitoulin Island. He enjoyed the last 12 years of his life on Manitoulin spending time out-of-doors and enjoying nature and good friendships. A celebration of life was held at the Sharples home on Saturday, January 19, 2013.
