I have been right 79 years of my life and just because I am no longer here in person does not mean that I am, or will ever be, wrong.
Harold McCutcheon passed away July 31, 2014, after surviving quadruple bypass surgery and a month-long struggle, he succumbed to a lung infection, though he was a true fighter to his last breath. Harold was always a pillar of the community, involved in various jobs and positions throughout his 79 years, including sailing the Great Lakes, Master Feeds in Oshawa, the milk truck for Cooper Trucking, owned McCutcheon Shell in Mindemoya, was a part-time ambulance driver for many years as well as a jail guard and town councillor. He was involved in the Masons, Shriners, Lions Club, Curling Club, was a hockey coach and scout leader and served on the board of directors at Little Current Manor, was a school board trustee and served on the Board of Directors at the Manitoulin Health Centre. As well as being heavily involved in the community, Harold was a family man through and through. He met his beloved wife Mary Ann of 56 years in Mindemoya as she had taken a job working for Mae Russell at the switchboard so that she could chase around a young man in Mindemoya. (Wonder who that could be?) Survived by wife MaryAnn (nee Dryden), children Terry (Judy), Cathy (Dave), Sandy (deceased) (husband Arran), and his pride and joy, grandchildren Meghan, Cailey and Corey (fiancé Lucie Lambert), Leeann and Sara, and Cassie (husband Kurt Noble), and Delaney Campbell. Son of Oscar Harold McCutcheon and Zella McCutcheon (both deceased), brother of Jim McCutcheon (deceased) and of Marilyn MacFadden. A private ceremony was held at the Mindemoya Cemetery for family on Monday, August 4 at 10 am. Donations to Mindemoya Hospital Women’s Auxiliary.
