GORE BAY— The preliminary hearing in the case of Clinton Gordon Haggart, 32, wrapped up on Monday, August 24 in Gore Bay Court.

Mr. Haggart has been charged with seven counts of arson in the Little Current fires that terrorized the community from June to August 2014 and was arrested on August 13, 2014. He has remained in custody in the district jail in Sudbury.

With evidence reviewed in the preliminary hearing, Mr. Haggart’s lawyer Glenn Sandberg, the Crown and a scheduling clerk will next sit down on September 8 in assignment court to determine a date for a judicial pre-trial which will determine a statement of issues and what does and does not come out at trial. Mr. Haggart will return to court for another assignment court date, and a date will be set for his trial by judge and jury in Superior Court.
