GORE BAY—Members of the Gore Bay Fish and Game Club (GBFGC) stocked healthy, large, Chinook Salmon in two area waterways last Friday. The fish have been raised in the Gore Bay hatchery this past fall-winter.

“They are beautiful, healthy fish,” stated Ches Witty, manager of the Gore Bay Fish hatchery. He explained that “some of the fish are about four inches in length.”

Mr. Witty noted that a total of 20,000 Chinook Salmon were stocked in Meldrum Bay Friday morning and 20,000 in Kagawong later in the day. “We still have 18,000 fish in the hatchery which will be stocked in Gore Bay at a later date.”

“It was a very, very successful plant,” said Mr. Witty. He pointed out there was a really good number of club members and local volunteers on hand helping to stock the fish. “I was really pleased with the turnout and help we had. We really appreciate the help we received.”
