Getting cattle on to cover crops

These field days will give crop and beef farmers the opportunity to see cover crops put to use as pasture for beef cattle. Friday, September 29, Chatham; Friday, October 6, Warkworth; and Thursday, October 12, Neustadt/Hanover.

Cover crops have important environmental and economic value, and these workshops will include farmers and speakers who can share their knowledge on the tools and resources available to help integrate cattle into cover cropping systems as an additional business opportunity on farms. Topics include Cover Crops for Cattle, Cattle Placement Models. Beef Cattle Financing Programs, Cover Crop Walk. There are no registration fees for these events, but please register early to secure a spot by contacting the Agricultural Information Contact Centre by phone 1-877-424-1300 or by email at ag.info.omafra@ontario.ca. A light lunch will be provided at each field day, beginning at noon. Field Days sponsored by the Beef Farmers of Ontario and the Ontario Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs.
