GORE BAY—An Evansville resident received an unexpected cash windfall just in time for Christmas, having the winning ticket drawn in the annual 50/50 draw held by the Gore Bay-Western Manitoulin Lions Club.

“This is excellent, I’m still really surprised by all of this,” stated Malcolm Noland of Evansville, who won a cash prize of $3,000 through the Lions Club draw held earlier this month.

Larry Hunter, secretary of the Lions Club told the Recorder that all 1,200 tickets in the draw were sold, and Mr. Noland had purchased the 1,185th ticket. The other half of the monies raised by the Lions Club in the sales of 50/50 draw tickets goes to charity.

As for what he is going to do with his unexpected cash, Mr. Noland indicated he might use some to buy Christmas members for family members and put the rest in savings.
