GORDON—For anyone who has been lucky enough to notch a hole-in-one on a golf course, it is something that is unforgettable and exciting.
For a young Burpee and Mills Township man, notching his first ace was a big deal for his playing partners but not so much for him.
“Yes, this was my first hole-in-one,” said Jesse Middleton. The shot took place on the second hole at Manitoulin Golf in Gordon/Barrie Island, in June.
“No, actually, I didn’t get too excited; my cousins were going crazy yelling and I just shrugged it off, and said ‘okay, let’s keep going’,” Mr. Middleton told the Recorder, adding modestly, “it’s only a hole-in-one.” He was playing with three of his cousins, namely Lucas Wright, Hayden Barton and Ashton Moore.
Mr. Middleton explained he used a four iron to notch the ace. “I just whacked the ball and it fell about a yard before the hole and went into the cup.”
Manitoulin Golf clubhouse manager Myrna Thomas presented Mr. Middleton with a couple of gifts, including a hole-in-one towel, tees and markers, last Friday evening.
