Elizabeth (Betty) Debassige, a resident of M’Chigeeng, passed away peacefully at the Manitoulin Health Centre, Mindemoya Site on Friday, March 14, 2014 at the age of 69 years. She was born in Hamilton, daughter of the late Wilfred Isaac and the late Violet Marie (nee Halsey) Taibossigai. Betty was predeceased by her husband Bruno Debassige. Loving mother of Anthony, survived by brothers and sisters, Rocky Taibossigai, partner Isadora Bebamash (M’Chigeeng), Ivan Taibossigai, partner Christina Taibossigai (M’Chigeeng), Grant Taibossigai, partner Sandra Taibossigai (M’Chigeeng), Audrey Shawongonabe, partner Lester Manitowabi (Wikwemikong), Vicky Taibossigai, partner George (Winnipeg), Kelly Taibossigai and partner Peter (Wikwemikong). Predeceased by brother Lee Earl John Taibossigai. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews. Betty loved so many things; she was very creative and had so much love for her family and the children that she taught over the years. She loved gardening, scrapbooking, puzzles and arts and crafts. She was a very loving mother, grandmother, and an amazing teacher to so many children. To them she was and will always be known as “Miss Betty.” She loved being funny and always joking. She will be missed. Visitation was held at Saswaahns Spiritual Center in M’Chigeeng on Saturday, March 15, 2014 after 2pm, to Tuesday March 18th, 2014. A funeral service was held Tuesday, March 18, 20144 at 11am at Immaculate Conception Church with Fr. Teo officiating. Interment in M’Chigeeng Cemetery.
