Early morning vehicle check leads to arrests

LITTLE CURRENT – On Thursday January 16, 2014 at 2:55 am Manitoulin OPP was on routine patrol in the early morning hours when officers observed a vehicle doing circles in the parking lot of the Little Current Recreational Complex in Little Current. Upon checking out the vehicle and occupants officers learned that the driver did not have a driver’s licence and the vehicle was alleged to be stolen. Further investigation revealed that another vehicle had been stolen from another community then driven to Little Current abandoned and this other vehicle taken.

Upon checking the second stolen vehicle a quantity of controlled substances were located and seized. As a result of this investigation OPP have charged three people two males and one female with the following offenses.

Theft of a Motor Vehicle contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada
Possession of Stolen Property over $5000 contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada
Possession of a Controlled Substance contrary to the Controlled Drugs and Substance Act
Breach of Probation ( only one male) contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada

All three subjects were charged and released on a Promise to Appear an Undertaking with conditions to appear at Gore Bay Provincial Court to answer to the charges.
