Doug (Eddie) passed away peacefully, Monday, May 27, 2013 at his home in Sudbury. Doug was the youngest son of the late Tom and Pearl (Graham) Prestage. Doug married Norita Best on August 29, 1956 and they resided primarily in Sudbury where he was employed by INCO for over thirty-six years, mostly at the Frood-Stobie Complex. Besides his wife, Doug leaves his son J.A., daughter-in-law Lisa Goodmurphy and the joys of his life, his granddaughters, Katie and Emma Prestage. Doug was an ardent sportsman throughout his life. He played baseball, softball, badminton, curling, golf and, of course, hunting. Doug loved life and enjoyed it until poor health occurred during the fall of 2012. Music and singing were important to Doug. He sang in the Lyons Memorial Church Choir and led many sing-songs with friends. Doug was predeceased by brothers Bill and Jim. He will be missed by his sister Marilyn McDermid of Sarnia, his sister-in-law May Prestage of Florida and sister-in-law and brother-in-law Nickie and Art Hinds of Gore Bay. Doug’s many nieces, nephews, relatives and a host of friends will miss him. A visitation was held at Culgin Funeral Home on Sunday, June 2, 2013 from 7 pm to 9 pm. A Celebration of Life took place at Lyons Memorial United Church on Monday, June 3, 2013 at 11 am with Rev. Jim McKean officiating. Interment Gordon Cemetery.
