(ESPANOLA, ON) – On Saturday March 2, 2019, at approximately 8:38 p.m., officers from the Manitoulin Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a call from a concerned citizen reporting a possible drug impaired driver on Barber Street in the Town of Espanola, Ontario.
The officers located the suspect vehicle and spoke with the occupants.
As a result of police investigation, officers seized suspected methamphetamine pills, suspected purple heroine, and suspected cocaine. The approximate value of the suspected drugs is $2,800.
With the assistance of an OPP Drug Recognition Expert (DRE) officer, it was determined that the female driver was operating a vehicle while impaired by drugs.
Terralee ROBINSON, 40-years-old, from Spanish, Ontario, has been charged with:
- Operation While Impaired – Drugs, contrary to 320.14(1)(a) of the Criminal Code (CC);
- Fail to Comply with Conditions of Undertaking Given by Officer in Charge, contrary to section 145(5.1) of the CC);
- Possession of a Schedule I Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking – Other Drugs, contrary to section 5(2) of the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act (CDSA); and
- Possession of a Schedule I Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking – Cocaine, contrary to section 5(2) of the CDSA.
Sean David ROQUE, 33-years-old, from Espanola, Ontario, has been charged with:
- Fail to Comply with Conditions of Undertaking Given by Officer in Charge, contrary to section 145(5.1) of the CC;
- Possession of a Schedule I Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking – Heroin, contrary to 5(2) of the CDSA;
- Possession of a Schedule I Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking -Other Drugs, contrary to section 5(2) of the CDSA;
- Possession of a Schedule I Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking – Cocaine, contrary to section 5(1) of the CDSA; and
- Fail to Comply with Probation Order – two counts, contrary to section 733.1(1) of the CC.
Both accused were held in custody and are scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Sudbury, Ontario, on March 4, 2019.
The accused driver was issued a 90-day Automatic Drivers Licence Suspension (ADLS) and the vehicle was impounded for 7 days.
The OPP has highly trained Drug Recognition Evaluator (DRE) officers who are skilled in the detection and investigation of drug impaired drivers.
